Construction on Oak Street began in January 2009. Scheduled completion date is Spring 2010. See below for the latest information about the Oak Street rehabilitation project. Check back often for the most recent updates!
Construction is currently taking place from Hwy 377 to Byron Nelson and includes waterline and sewer main replacement, underground storm drain and electric.
Oak Street is closed from north of Austin intersection to Travis. Concrete is poured from 377 to Travis, except for the intersection at Travis. The demolition crew is schedule to work on the section from Houston to Byron Nelson next week, weather permitting.
All intersections are open to traffic . Sidewalks are currently being poured beginning at Main southbound. Electricians are drilling piers for street lights from Rusk to Travis. Oncor is on schedule to install street lights around the middle of November.
Oak Street is also closed from Byron Nelson thru Houston. Traffic is switched to the north side of Byron Nelson until this phase is completed. The tap for the 21" waterline is complete at Byron Nelson. The line will be pressure tested from Houston to Byron Nelson this Friday.
Franchise utilities have removed all cables up to Travis, and should remove the remaining old electrical poles next week.
